So a little background: I grew up in the boonies, middle of nowhere surrounded by forestland, in the time of no satellite tv or cable that far away. We got one channel pretty much, so my choices were limited. Fast forward to now when I really don't watch tv. Still I think my list is amazing and will bring back fond memories to those of us who've been around for a bit. In no particular order (couldn't bring myself to rank them):
1) "I wanna do bad things with you..."
True Blood - Sep 7, 2008 Created by Alan Ball |
South Park - Aug 13, 1997 Created by Trey Parker & Matt Stone |
Dexter - Oct 1, 2006 Created by James Manos, Jr. |
Top Chef - Mar 8, 2006 Created by Magical Elves Productions |
M*A*S*H - Sep 17, 1972 Created by H. Richard Hornberger |
6) "Domestic bliss was never like this..."
Married...with Children - Apr 5, 1987 Created by Michael G. Moye & Ron Leavitt |
7) "Making unwatchable movies essential viewing..."
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Nov 24, 1988 Created by Joel Hodgson |
8) "No soup for you..."
Seinfeld - Jul 5, 1989 Created by Larry David & Jerry Seinfeld |
9) "Family. Redefined..."
The Sopranos - Jan 10, 1999 Created by David Chase |
10) "Believe it or not, I'm walking on air..."
The Greatest American Hero - Mar 18, 1981 Created by Stephen J. Cannell |
Okay, I had to throw in a hero somewhere, but I couldn't decide. I flipped coins. Yep, cheated. I watched a bunch of these shows as a kid and couldn't pick a fav: The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, The Greatest American Hero, Isis (see if anyone remembers that one!), The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man. Well, let's just say I was addicted to the hero-type shows.
Thanks everyone for checking out my list. Be sure to make the rounds from Alex's blog!
That's awesome you included a quote for each one. Every has taken their own approach to their TV list, which is cool. MASH and MST3K - excellent choices!! Thanks for participating in the blogfest.
ReplyDeleteHow stupid of me to forget about the Soparanos. I can't believe that. That would have been my number 2. I am glad you included it, first time I have seen it on a list thus far. Seinfeld I included, but I am not familiar with the rest of your list.
ReplyDeleteAwesome choices! And that picture for Seinfeld is priceless. Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteThe more posts I'm reading on this blogfest, the more I am enjoying each one and thinking about my own top 10 so that I can join in.

Loved Greatest American Hero!
ReplyDeletegreat list. I would never have thought to put Married with children on here but it was awesome. Haven't seen it in years. Does it age well?
ReplyDeleteI love your choices!! It's been so long since I watched GREATEST AMERICAN HERO!!
ReplyDeleteMystery Science Theater - yeah!!! And my husband enjoys the chef show. Ramsey does several.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I love the cooking show too.
ReplyDeleteClarissa Draper from Listen To The Voices
Good job. But I've either not watched these shows or not seen many episodes. Like you I hardly watch TV any more. My TV memories are mostly fairly older ones.

Tossing It Out
OMG. . .Married With Children. I loved that show! And as for Kenny, I never tired of seeing how they'd kill him every week. LOL. Great list.
ReplyDeleteSome really good choices - Seen a few of these lists today and am sort of shocked that All In The Family is not on them - that show changed everything, of course, reality tv today is more about acting that anything we call real lol.
ReplyDeleteSeinfeld has got to be at the top of my list! And I forgot about Married with Children!
ReplyDeleteGREAT list! I completely forgot about the Sopranos! I had so many faves, it was hard to narrow it down. Had I remembered that as well, it would have taken even longer! That's such a great Seinfeld picture!!
ReplyDeleteMASH was an awesome show. Seinfeld was dreadful imo. I've never watched the Sopranos but I want to. I'm just too darned busy!
ReplyDeleteGreat list- married with children didn't make my list- but it was one I watched alot.
ReplyDeletegreat list...

Wow. We have very different TV taste. Although Seinfeld made my list and I do like MASH and Top Chef, too!
ReplyDeleteoh wow! married with children! my grandparents used to sneak out of their bedroom at night to watch married with children while we were asleep. by day they told us it was an immoral show to watch... then we caught them! lol. silly grandparents! :)
ReplyDeleteMASH is a winner...and I'd forgotten all about Greatest American Hero..funny series.

W.I.P. It: A Writer's Journey
I am obsessed and I mean obsessed with True Blood!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love this list!! Especially the Greatest American Hero. It makes me want to go dig up an old episode on youtube or something and watch it!
ReplyDeleteGreat list. I love the Seinfeld image.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I've only seen 2 of these (Seinfeld & MASH - which I love!) I have some catching up to do as well!
ReplyDeleteThe Greatest American Hero - I used to sing that song ALL THE TIME! Drove my family nuts. And Seinfeld - masterful.
ReplyDeleteWow - a bunch there I didn't recognize... have to take a look. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore True Blood, and that is one of my favorite posters for the series. It really captures the essence of both the show and characters.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen most of these, but Married...with Children and Top Chef rule! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I remember watching "Isis" as a first run on Saturday mornings.
ReplyDeleteInteresting choices to say the least...but its also interesting to see that most of your selections have had catch phrases make into today's pop lexicon.
Haven't watched South Park in years, but any show that can make one person threaten a network and make that network cave in is at the top of the A-list in my book.
Wow, what a great list. :)
ReplyDeleteWanted to say thank you for reading mine and following. Returning the favor and hope we have an interacting future. :D
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow

She was on Perry Mason! Wow, you met Alex(Eric) I imagine him to have this presence...charisma!

Greatest American Hero! OMGosh! I just watched a rerun of some episodes with my boys not long ago! Fun! Man, you've got some amazing choices in there, lots that I've never seen. And I love how you presented your list too ~ very clever!
ReplyDeleteYes, MST!! I loved Mike - he was funny AND cute.

ReplyDeleteLove that you included quotes from your selections. Great list
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pictures! I'm addicted to a lot of these shows, but lack premium cable, so I have to wait for DVD. I had to plug my ears a lot when my friends get together to talk about TV (they're all TruBlood and Dexter fans).
ReplyDeleteMST3K! :) My husband and I actually reference "The Killer Shrews" pretty regularly in conversation.
